Undergrounders intending to participate in the spiritual Pilgrimage May 24-31 in Washington D.C. should think about some of the sites they’d like to see while there. Do you want to tour the White House? The monuments? (Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, FDR Memorial, the Viet Nam wall, World War II Memorial, etc.) Would you like to visit Arlington National Cemetery to see the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier? Would you like to visit a museum–such as the Holocaust Museum, the Newseum, or a Smithsonian Museum? How about the National Zoo, Mt. Vernon, or the National Archives to see the Constitution and Declaration of Independence?
The Pilgrimage will include spiritual reflection time and activities at the impressively beautiful Washington National Cathedral, a “House of Prayer for All People,” which functions as an Episcopal Church. There will also be service opportunities related to urban poverty–hunger and housing issues.
If you haven’t turned in your pledge for the trip, please do so soon, and give your feedback to Sherwin & RiAnna regarding the activities in D.C. that you’d particularly like to do. We can’t do it all, but we’ll try to hit the high points for everyone. Pledge forms are available in the Lewis Commons at the Cathedral, or at the front desk.
The photo, by the way is the Darth Vader gargoyle, which is on the northwest tower of National Cathedral.

You know you are an Episcopalian when you watch a Star Wars movie and they say, ‘May the Force be with you,’ and you respond, ‘and also with you.’ — Garrison Keillor
